Also no Christmas Walk.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PICNIC \u2013 JUNE 23<sup>RD<\/sup>-6 pm &#8211;<\/strong>The picnic was held at the Smith Kimball and two houses received Historic Building Plaques for houses at 602 Tecumseh Rd. , &nbsp;313 Jackson Rd. and<\/p>\n<p>13514 E. Michigan Ave.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HISTORIC &nbsp;SPIRIT WALK &#8211; Oct.&nbsp; 24-<\/strong> Thirty-seven people participated in the Spirit Walk this year.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;The Clinton Inn put out a wonderful treat afterwards.&nbsp; Thanks to our president, Norleen Hicks, for putting this together this successful event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENOIR <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the first year, HSC is offering a scholarship to a Clinton High School senior who will write a historic paper about a Clinton person, place, event, business or organization.&nbsp; The committee working on this is :&nbsp; Mike Walters, Pat Sturk and Jan Wegner.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PHOTO BOOK FOR CLINTON- <\/strong>Still being worked on by the HSC Board. &nbsp;&nbsp;Pat Sturk is doing editing. We hope the first volume will come out next year: A Century of Clinton\u2019s Past, volume 1, Downtown, Business &amp; Industry, 1880-1980 .<\/p>\n<p><strong>DONATION \u2013 Clinton High School has donated 27 VHS tapes <\/strong>of sports, graduations and dramas.&nbsp;&nbsp; We will begin to digitize these soon.&nbsp; If you would like to help with this project, please e-mail Sharon Scott at <a href=\"mailto:sascott2@comcast.net\">sascott2@comcast.net<\/a>. This is done in the basement of the library.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HIGH SCHOOL YEARBOOKS \u2013 <\/strong>The Historical Society is gathering Clinton High School Yearbooks to be digitized by the Oklahoma Correctional Industries.&nbsp; We are gathering yearbooks from the 1950s-1999.&nbsp; We still need 1957, 1977, 1982.&nbsp; The Clinton High School has already furnished us with some issues not in our archives.&nbsp; They are returned in same condition sent.&nbsp; They do this free to us.&nbsp; Please contact Sharon Scott if you have any of missing issues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HOSPICE LIGHTS OF LOVE &#8211; &nbsp;Dec.&nbsp; 6, &nbsp;from 6-8 pm.&nbsp; at the Smith-Kimball Community Center.&nbsp; <\/strong>We will be furnishing cookies for the event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ON-LINE DONATION PROGRAM AT AMAZONSMILE.COM will raise funds for us.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you order from amazon you can go to amazonsmile.com instead and choose the Historical Society of Clinton as your charity.&nbsp; Your order is processed just the same as if you\u2019re on amazon, but HSC will get a .5% back. We get a quarterly check.&nbsp; Use this for your Christmas shopping.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MEMORIAL TREE &#8211; FOR THE SMITH-KIMBALL COMMUNITY CENTER LAWN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are going to honor one of our past members, Robert Way, this year by purchasing and planting a tree on the SKCC grounds.&nbsp; &nbsp;Robert Way (1931-2020 ) &nbsp;was born in Clinton and had a &nbsp;wealth of local historical knowledge that he shared &nbsp;with many. &nbsp;Bob and his wife Mary Jane worked on several HSC projects and also donated items to the HSC archives. They have used a program called cam-scanner on a phone.&nbsp; The results will be available soon at the library desk on a thumb drive.&nbsp; The articles and obituaries cover the 1920\u2019s to 1950\u2019s.&nbsp; Also Lenore Binns is working on cataloging our\u201d Sell DeMuth Collection\u201d of general store records, from the 1870\u2019s to 1910\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>We still need help with filing, pasting obituaries and cataloging books.&nbsp; We usually work on Fridays from 3-5 pm at the library.&nbsp; Let us know if you can help.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>e-newsletter V.10 #2 Historical Society of Clinton, Michigan P.O.
