UPCOMING PROGRAMS at Clinton Township Public Library unless otherwise noted.

April 3-7pm –CLINTON THEATRE RESTORATION- 2010 saw the Restoration of the Clinton Theatre.  The March program features owners Karie Dorsten & Frank Cianciolo and Jack Campbell of Campbell/Durocher Group, the company that did the restoration. Sharon Scott will tell some of the history of movie theatres in Clinton.

April 24-6:30pm Annual Meeting dues are due ($8 & $12) and we will hold election of officers; at 7:00pm an EMU Historic Preservation Class will present a program on their Structural Analysis of the Hause/Roberts house at 116 Locust St.  This is a class project under the direction of Professor Jack Weatherford.

May 22-7pm Back Roads in Michigan- presented by author Ron Rademacher.

June 26-6pm - Annual Picnic will be at Smith Kimball Community Center.  Please bring some meat to grill and a dish to pass. Beverage will be provided.

REPORT ON CHRISTMAS WALK- The Christmas Walk 2011 was a big success.  Around 86 people bought tickets and visited the Community Center, the UCC Church and 4 Homes on the Tour.  A big thanks to Norleen Hicks and her committee and the home owners who were so generous in opening their homes.  The Society made around $300 to put towards Historic Preservation Projects.

CLIPPING THE 1970s CLINTON LOCALS- We will be clipping on Feb. 27 and the first & third Mondays of March and April at the Library ; 2:30-4:30. Come one come all; just bring scissors.

NEW EQUIPMENT- The Society was in need of more shelving in the basement and so we have purchased two 6’ tall, 4’ wide and 18” deep shelf units on wheels and we had a large map case donated.

T-SHIRTS-We are creating Clinton T-Shirts with a Historical & Current photo of downtown. They will be available at The Clinton Woolen Mill 2 and Floyd’s Antique Store Downtown for $15 for sizes M ,L ,XL and $17 for 2X in March.

ARCHIVES- We are fortunate to have 3 people helping in the archives in addition to our archivist, Sharon Scott. They are Lynn Nix, Lenore Binns & Sharon Wiedmayer.  Sharon is working on cataloging maps from the Rena Fitzpatrick Collection.  Lynn is clipping and filing and Lenore is organizing the Historical Societies’ own papers. We could still use help on the obituary file and filing.
